Boating In Europe: The River Lot

Rivers have made the history and the very landscape of this beautiful region of France.

These rivers have a centuries old heritage for transporting all manner of goods. The river Lot is open for cruisers from Aiguillon to Villeneuve-sur-Lot, including two locks enroute.

A feature of this stretch of waterways is the experience of having an escort boat along the 6km passage between the Garonne and Baise rivers. The Baize itself is essentailly a cruise down yesteryear with it's unspoilt charm. You will come across many villages and towns in this area and may stumble upon a weekly marketplace or or country fair.

The town of Condom thrives on Armagnac, the brandy of the Gers region, subtly different in flavour from the better known Cognac, but believed by many to be superior.
